Opening Party on the First Day

After studying graphic design at Tama Art University, Mika Ninagawa received the Kimura Ihei Award, often called the "Akutagawa Prize of Photography," in 2007. Since then, she has demonstrated remarkable versatility. As perhaps the most radiant artist today, her activities extend beyond the art world. In recent years, she has directed films such as "Sakuran" and "Helter Skelter," and collaborated with fashion brands like Celine and Mastermind Japan, showing no signs of slowing down.

This exhibition of Mika Ninagawa's work is presented at 8/ ART GALLERY/ Tomio Koyama Gallery, which opened in Shibuya Hikarie this April. Directed with a unique perspective by Tomio Koyama Gallery, known for its many contemporary art exhibitions, the space aims to allow visitors to experience the multifaceted nature of her creative vision. Furthermore, an opening party will be held on the first day, December 19th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

This exhibition features works from the "Acid Bloom" and "Liquid Dreams" series created in 2003, the "floating yesterday" series from 2004, and the "noir" series from 2010. The vivid colors, capturing the fleeting brilliance of flowers, animals, goldfish, and landscapes, evoke a range of emotions and surreal worlds.

And then, the "hyper-chromatic darkness" that emerges by intensifying the depth of light and color. Whether bathed in light or enveloped in shadow, this exhibition offers a chance to feel the unique, momentary beauty and the rich essence of life that only Mika Ninagawa can express.
