The First Exhibition in Japan by World-Renowned Artists

Photographer Maurice Scheltens and visual artist Liesbeth Abbenes present conceptual photographic works centered on still lifes. While holding exhibitions worldwide in locations such as Amsterdam and New York, they have also captivated luxury houses like Hermès and Yves Saint Laurent. This marks the first exhibition in Japan by these notable artists, who also engage in commissioned works for cultural institutions and editorial design for magazines.



A common characteristic of their work is a strong awareness of "photography" as a two-dimensional medium. Whether it's the "Hidden Objects" series, which captures rotating objects on a turntable, or a series of fashion brand hangers photographed as regular objects, they consciously create works that record time and phenomena in three-dimensional space, ultimately resulting in a two-dimensional photographic expression. To put it more simply, they select subjects that strongly evoke a sense of three-dimensionality.



To coincide with this exhibition, a poster-style exhibition catalog featuring their recent visual works has also been published. It promises to be a delightful art piece for home display.



Based on a thoroughly considered concept, these are light and colorful visual images that transcend and sublimate beyond "pictures of images" into an independent form of expression.
