Actors, Actresses, Idols… The Unseen Faces of Familiar People

The series "Unknown Faces" to be exhibited this time features prominent Japanese actors photographed in the backstage dressing rooms immediately after a stage performance, a time and space not usually permitted. It truly captures their "unknown faces."

Also on display is the series "Moment = Eternity," which captures the fleeting sparkle of idols moved to tears, and the series "Presence," which uses bold negative space and distant compositions to express their "definite existence."

All these approaches stem from Hosono Shinji's respect for his subjects, who, regardless of their fame, are "simply existing in this world as individuals." "49"… Shinji Hosono, at 49 years old. This exhibition marks the first step in his journey to redefine himself as a photographer, moving beyond his career as a commercial cameraman.



The art direction for this exhibition is by Yasutaka Arai, and original prints, a photo book, and postcards will be available for purchase at the venue.
