Capturing Subjects with Instant Film

Kazumi Kurigami is a rare photographer who has continued to be at the forefront for decades, keenly absorbing the winds of the times. His commercial work is often filled with a provocative level of stimulation and robust power, directly engaging the viewer's sensibilities. His artwork captivates people with its radiant vitality. In this exhibition, Kurigami confronted the "death" scattered throughout daily life using instant film. The subjects include portraits of people now gone, sepia-toned images of his father and grandfathers aged over time, ammonite fossils millions of years old, and skull figurines... What thoughts did their presence in his relaxed, everyday surroundings evoke within him?



The photographer attempts to recreate past times and memories as new recollections, preventing them from fading. The film, through its continuous changes, transforms into new life. This resonance, without a definitive goal, invites us into an endless inner journey.
