Musician and Artist KUJUN to Perform on the Main Stage!


"Museums at Night" is a cultural festival held simultaneously in museums across 42 European countries. In Budapest, Hungary, musician and artist KUJUN, also known as the older brother of actor Tadanobu Asano, will screen his directorial debut and perform live at two museums. Being invited as the main performing artist at two museums simultaneously is a first for any Japanese national.

A First for Japan! The World Turns Its Attention to the KUJUN Universe






An artist who debuted as a film actor in 1993 with "Nemuranai Machi: Shinjuku Same" and began his global music career in '97. In 2005, KUJUN garnered attention from various circles for his sound design for "MRDIA SKIN," a mobile phone featured in the Museum of Modern Art's collection. He is an artist active on a worldwide scale.

Now, KUJUN is participating in "Museums at Night" in Budapest, Hungary.

Directorial Debut "Fantastic Syndrome"








"Museums at Night" is a cultural festival established in 2005 by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, celebrated in 42 European countries. Museums and galleries open their doors from 7:30 PM until midnight, hosting a variety of creative and innovative events – a true art festival. In Budapest, KUJUN is scheduled to screen his film at the prominent Ernst Museum and perform live at the Ludwig Museum. Being invited as the main performing artist at two museums simultaneously during Budapest's "Museums at Night" is a historic first for a Japanese national. We look forward to seeing what kind of KUJUN universe unfolds.

KUJUN
Debuted as a Japanese film actor in 1993 in director Yojiro Takita's film "Nemuranai Machi: Shinjuku Same." Began acting and steady domestic music activities. From '97, his music activities became primarily focused on the global stage. Performed live at the 2000 Taipei Biennale. In '01, served as music director for "W/O," a work by director Koki Hasei that won a special award at the Seoul NET FESTIVAL "DIGITAL EXPRESS." In '05, composed music for "Tamamushi" directed by Kohei Oguri, an official selection of the Directors' Fortnight at the 58th Cannes Film Festival. Gained attention for his sound design for "MEDIA SKIN," a mobile phone in the Museum of Modern Art's collection, drawing notice from various fields. In '10, created music using Japanese folk songs for a performance art piece featuring Japanese traditional ikebana (flower arranging) at the PR event hosted by the Japan National Tourism Organization for the 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition. In April '11, composed music for the JAPAN Diversity Wall in the Japan Pavilion at the "Saudi National Festival of Heritage and Culture" hosted by the Royal Guard of Saudi Arabia, where Japan was invited as the guest country.
