Four Women Unite for a One-Night Collaboration: "TETRAHEDRON"

The "Art x Art x Art" series stimulates intellectual curiosity through cross-disciplinary collaborations centered on music. The second installment in the series features a collaboration between "music," "dance," and "photography."──"TETRAHEDRON," a one-night collaboration by four women performing works by contemporary music masters Steve Reich and Arvo Pärt, will be held on December 19th (Friday) at Hakuju Hall, a concert venue near Yoyogi-koen Station, with costumes provided by Issey Miyake.

Giving Form to the Invisible "Tetrahedron" and Projecting It Powerfully

An evening that crafts a musical world from Reich's uplifting repetitions and Pärt's transparent, radiant sounds, brought to life through marimba performance, dance, and live photography.

The performance features marimba player Kuniko Kato, whose album "Kuniko Plays Reich" released on the UK's Linn Records garnered global acclaim. Ikuyo Kuroda, a leading figure in contemporary dance, will interpret Reich, while Tamie Nakai will dance to Pärt's music. The stage will be illuminated by live photography from Yuriko Takagi, who has frequently collaborated with Issey Miyake.

In line with the performance title "Tetrahedron – a polyhedron composed of triangles," dancers, along with Kuniko Kato and Yuriko Takagi, will appear wearing new autumn creations from Issey Miyake's "132. 5" series, inspired by triangular motifs. This is not to be missed.

The hall resonates richly, as if it were a single instrument. The dancers, shifting between the first and second parts, sometimes simultaneously, sometimes in solitude, project energy, capturing the fleeting brilliance of the artists and projecting it onto the screen through photography.
