Keiko Toda, Katsumi Takahashi, and Yasufumi Terawaki on the Theater World's "Team Dream" (Part 2)
Keiko Toda x Katsumi Takahashi x Yasufumi Terawaki
The "Team Dream Come" of the Theater World Speaks Extensively (2)
Team Dream Come, who met more frequently than usual before the live performance for Toda's casual live singing practice.
All of them are over 40, and they apparently have passionate discussions about how to live from now on.
Summary = Makoto Kajii (The Magazine)
Aiming to be a place where people say, "You can find great things there."
TodaThis time, by working towards the common goal of singing, we were able to create an even stronger sense of solidarity and have truly meaningful and wonderful time.
TerawakiNormally, we all work hard in different places, so when the three of us meet, we just want to relax and drink. But this time, working together for the first time, we were able to deepen our relationship. There was a seriousness in our desire to do something monumental together.
TodaPlay has to be serious... (laughs)
TerawakiLooking back, during practice, Katsumi would become quiet (laughs), and afterwards we'd go for drinks and talk about life.
TodaThe three of us are actors, but we also host programs and appear on variety shows. While there's a certain appeal to focusing solely on acting, we share a commonality in pursuing diverse careers, and sometimes struggle with the complexities of that.
If we draw a line between being an actor and not being an actor, we can feel cornered or have doubts.
TerawakiWe likened it to a department store.
TodaThat is, Toda Department Store, Terawaki Department Store, Takahashi Department Store. We want each floor to be well-stocked and fulfilling. While it's wonderful to excel in just one area, we've been given so many opportunities. We want to be known as a department store where you can find many great things, and if we can't do that, we should just close shop. We were able to discuss these things during our singing practice.
TakahashiIn my case, it's more like a limited-time "Singing Fair" (laughs).
TodaBefore we knew it, that's who we had become. This time, we were able to expand our horizons with this singing project.
TerawakiI heard from Toda-san directly that when she was releasing her CD, she went to the record company herself and said, "I don't want to do this half-heartedly," and "What should I do?" Hearing that, I realized how serious she was. Therefore, as guests at the live performance, we couldn't let her down.
TodaThat's just because I want to be serious about the present and convey my feelings properly.
TerawakiThat idea of "living in the moment" is also something we share. We've passed the halfway point of our lives, and we feel we can't afford to waste time. How will we live from now on? Will it be a life of giving things up one by one, or accumulating them? Will we change our constitution? There was a time when Katsumi struggled with appearing on variety shows, but it's good if he can showcase his charm as Katsumi Takahashi there. He can do anything. We often have these kinds of conversations.
TodaWe watch each other's work, so when I see any of their performances, I understand what they're thinking even as they stand on stage. There are many different stages and many different dramas. The only question is how we live within them.
The bond between these three is truly special, allowing for immediate understanding, which I'm very grateful for.
Moving forward powerfully and relentlessly, like a locomotive
TerawakiToda-san is already at a high level, but I feel she's striving for even greater heights. Two years ago, she participated in "HUMANITY THE MUSICAL ~Momotaro and His Friends~" by Gekidan Shiki, and even then she took dance lessons. I realized then that she has no limits. She's inspired by various things and isn't afraid to take on challenges. We're naturally influenced by her.
Her singing is, of course, excellent, but it also has soul. As an actress, she has more soul than a singer, and she's evolving even further now.
TakahashiI think she should rest more (laughs). She dislikes resting.
TodaThat's not true (laughs).
TakahashiShe moves forward powerfully like a locomotive, and I feel like I'm being pulled along, thinking, "Toda-san, are you still going?" (laughs). She's stoic, and she seems to be getting younger and younger.

TodaIt's kind of you to say so.
TerawakiWhat I learned from Toda-san is to just try it first. Saying 'no' leads to zero, but there are things you won't know unless you try. She taught me that nothing happens unless you try. She told me to try appearing in one of Koki Mitani's works, and participating in it was truly wonderful.
TodaIt gets more interesting as you get older.
TerawakiPerhaps this person truly has no limits.
TakahashiWhen you encounter Toda-san's sheer energy, you're inspired. She's older than me, and despite her fame in so many fields, she's still pushing forward. When I'm with Toda-san and Terawaki-san, I can talk about things I can't express elsewhere.
TerawakiWhen the three of us get together, we can talk about our flaws to our heart's content, and it's like a base where we can be our true selves.
It's wonderful when adults tackle things seriously
TodaWe can do so many things, the three of us. We want to do so many things.
TakahashiOh, are we doing something else again?
TodaHow about we do a talk live show for about five days? (laughs). We could even increase the number of songs we sing.
TakahashiAre we going to do that song again?
TodaSing it again at the October live performance?
TakahashiThen it'll be the "WINDING ROAD" corner, won't it? (laughs).
TodaMany people couldn't see it at the May live performance, so maybe this time we should announce it by name instead of keeping it a secret?
TakahashiYou're raising the bar (laughs).

TodaThe May live performance was about how wonderful it is for adults to tackle things seriously, and there was a passionate sentiment behind it.
TerawakiFurthermore, the energy expended amidst such a busy schedule was incredible.
TakahashiI was impressed by the intensity of Toda-san's commitment to the live performance.
TodaI hope we can do something fun together again someday.
Takahashi & TerawakiGo easy on us (laughs).
