Masafumi Suzuki: The OPENERS Manifesto

Masafumi Suzuki's Openers Manifesto

What is Masafumi Suzuki thinking as he launches the new web magazine 'Openers'? Here is the 'Openers Manifesto' from a journalist who keenly dissects various phenomena.

The budding of an appreciation for beauty—in things, in ways of living, in ways of thinking—
arises from encounters with beauty that far exceed the boundaries of one's own experience.
I believe it arises from encounters with beauty that far exceed the boundaries of one's own experience.

We never know when we might have such an 'encounter'.
It could be somewhere, someone, something, a thing,
a book, music, a painting or sculpture, a play,
or perhaps something ineffable,
its occurrence is entirely unpredictable and unforeseeable.

I cannot predict what this web magazine will become, but I think the title 'Openers' is very good. It means 'something that opens our eyes'.
I believe the most important thing is for 'Openers' to become a place for encountering beauty.
If we can create such a space together with Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tomoki Tsushima, and others, 'Openers' will become a place for me to encounter 'beauty' beyond my expectations.

We aim for beauty!
