Part 2: How to Enjoy a Cigar
How to enjoy your cigar

Please secure a suitable "place" to enjoy your cigar. Perhaps your sofa at home or a favorite cigar lounge… And please set aside enough "time" to fully savor it. One to two hours should suffice.

Read on below for instructions on how to smoke a cigar.

Before smoking
First, if your cigar is wrapped in clear cellophane, remove it. Next, if the cigar is wrapped in thin cedar wood, peel off the cedar. Leave the paper band indicating the brand name on for now. Trying to remove the band forcefully could tear the cigar's wrapper leaf.

Collecting cigar cutters can also be a pleasure.

How to cut your cigar
Using a cigar cutter, trim about 2 to 3 millimeters from the closed end (the head) of the cigar. The depth of the cut should leave the roundness of the head intact. Carefully decide where to cut, and make a clean, swift cut.

How to light your cigar
Light the foot (the cut end) with an odorless gas lighter or cigar matches. Gently toast the entire foot evenly until it is fully lit. It is properly lit when white ash forms uniformly around the edge.

Take your time, gently rotating to ensure an even burn...

How to smoke your cigar
Enjoy it slowly, puffing once or twice per minute. Do not inhale the smoke into your lungs; draw it into your mouth and savor the flavor. Also, avoid knocking off the ash too frequently. Let it grow to about 2 to 3 centimeters before tapping it off.
Enjoy the "time" enveloped in the cigar's aroma in a relaxed atmosphere, perhaps with coffee or your favorite drink. When the ash reaches the cigar band, the end is near. To extinguish it, do not stub it out; simply place it in the ashtray and let it go out on its own. Stubbing it out can release unpleasant odors from the tar accumulated inside. And remember to be considerate of those around you.

How to keep your cigar
The ideal environment for storing cigars is a temperature of 18–20°C (64–68°F) and 70% humidity. Keep them away from dryness, high temperatures, and direct sunlight. Just as a wine cellar is necessary for storing wine, a dedicated cigar humidor is convenient. For example, enjoy a "luxurious time" while smoking a cigar during a post-meal conversation.
