A Unique World Blending Swift Movements with Lingering Resonance
DAZZLE has captivated audiences with their unique stage productions, which fuse street dance and contemporary dance, incorporating elements from plays, musicals, anime, and games.
In 2011, they became the first Japanese artists to perform at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival in Romania, one of the world's three major theatre festivals. Their highly artistic work was met with a standing ovation. Since then, they have continued to actively perform not only in Japan but also internationally, consistently creating original and innovative pieces.
Now, their latest work, 'Niju no Saikusha,' featuring actor Tadafumi Asano as narrator, is set to premiere. The story unfolds in a nation facing a crisis due to overpopulation, where a dictator repeatedly purges ethnic minorities and banishes those over 50. Amidst this, the heir to power, a son who inherited his position, grapples with the conflict between his responsibilities as a ruler and the inner voice of his humanity, as he commits acts of murder that everyone believes are justified. This profound narrative explores the depths of human struggle.
On stage, the twelve members of DAZZLE deliver a performance perfectly synchronized with sound, lighting, and visual effects. Their unique world, characterized by a blend of rapid movements and evocative pauses, will be brought to life.
This production delves into relationships such as 'parent and child' and 'teacher and student,' even questioning the indoctrination inherent in concepts like 'love' and 'education.' It probes the nature of human instinct and reason. With the collaboration of Tadafumi Asano, we anticipate DAZZLE's exploration of new artistic frontiers.
