Diary-T 157 "Biting" 01

I had lunch with graphic designer Tsuyoshi Kusano for the first time in a while.

Apparently, his four-year-old son wouldn't listen to him, so when he got angry, the child bit him.

And what's amazing about Kusano is,

the moment he felt the pain of his son biting him, he bit his son in return.

Naturally, the four-year-old son started crying because it hurt.

His memory from that point on is a bit hazy, but

"Waaah, Daddy, you just bit me, didn't you?"

"N-no, no, I didn't bite you. Daddy would never bite you."

Kusano, who had lied to his son like that, couldn't look his child in the face afterwards,

and finally apologized to his four-year-old son for lying.

He himself had just lectured his son about the importance of not lying,

and Kusano's inner turmoil over the "lie" he inadvertently told is quite a story in itself.

But I felt a sense of love in Kusano's instinct to bite back.

In other words, it's natural for parents to try to interact with their children rationally,

but for Kusano to engage with his child by openly expressing his emotions,

considering that humans are also animals, might be a form of affection.

Biting hurts the other person. Being bitten hurts you too.

If experiencing these things fosters human sensibility and brain development,

perhaps it gives birth to a sensibility different from simply being told not to bite,

a primal instinct that can only be conveyed through direct appeal to our wild nature?

Of course, the parent's skill lies in how they manage that balance...

So, when I told Kusano these thoughts while munching on a sandwich,

Suddenly, Kusano launched into a monologue of erotic tales.

"That's just like sex, isn't it? It's best to do what the other person wants. Or rather, if it's done to you, you retaliate, right?"

So, maybe "retaliation" isn't such a bad word after all.

"And when someone like Sagawa came while my bra was pulled up, I hastily pulled down just my shirt and finished the business at the door, with my bra still pulled up. The sight of my shirt revealing the outline of the pulled-up bra is just unbearable~ Hahaha... But not at all recently. I haven't done it in so long, I've even forgotten how to have sex, hahaha..."

I couldn't help but say, "Hahaha, I've forgotten how to walk recently."

"...Talking with old people really has depth, doesn't it?"

Hmm.

Well, anyway,

we ended up commissioning him for several contents for the next issue of "dictionary," issue 143, to be published on 12/10.
