Shuya Okino | iTunes for OPENERS Vol.40 “Paul Randolph Sings”
Unauthorized? Yet Legal!
The 40th Edition of a Cutting-Edge Compilation
Unauthorized? Yet Legal! The 40th installment of a monthly compilation from Shuya Okino of KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE, a DJ, the world's only track selection critic, and a leading figure in sound branding who transforms the value of spaces through music.
This time, as with the previous installment, it's an official playlist in collaboration with the "Tokyo Crossover/Jazz Festival," scheduled for December 16th (Friday) at Ebisu's The Garden Hall. Paul Randolph, a vocalist based in Detroit and the headliner of TCJF, is highly anticipated for his first solo performance. We've compiled his major works. Titled "Paul Randolph Sings." Featuring powerful tracks like M-1 from Carl Craig's project Innerzone Orchestra, M-2, a hit by club jazz big name Jazzanova, and M-3, just released by Japanese creator Makoto. It's also his best album, covering remixes by Ezel from the previous feature and M-8 released on Moody Mann's label Mahogany.
Paul Randolph is recognized across Detroit techno and club jazz scenes. Due to his roots, he's also valued by DJs worldwide as a soul singer inheriting the spirit of "MOTOWN." His high quality is sure to be appreciated not only by club music listeners but also by soul and R&B enthusiasts. We hope you enjoy this selection to fully appreciate Paul Randolph's debut performance at TCJF.
