iMix for OPENERS Vol.27 | iTunes | Shuya Okino | selected by SHUYA OKINO
Unauthorized? Yet Legal!
The 27th Edition of a Cutting-Edge Compilation
Unauthorized? Yet Legal! This is the 27th installment of the monthly compilation curated by Shuya Okino of KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE, and it's the first to feature an all-jazz selection. We've gathered rich yet beautiful works from both Japan and abroad. The theme: “DEEP AND BEAUTIFUL.”
Different countries, different eras. By deliberately avoiding the so-called jazz giants, we've set ourselves apart from conservative jazz. After all, jazz is meant to be free to play and free to listen to, isn't it? Incidentally, while not strictly for the dance floor, this is precisely the kind of 'un-danceable jazz' a DJ would select... but can't you dance to it if you try? This elegant (with a hint of madness) jazz, suitable for listening yet secretly harboring a danceable groove, is exactly what we highly recommend to all OPENERS readers. Leave the straightforward dance jazz to the beginners; why not venture a little further? With an anti-establishment thrill...
