Music for the End of Summer
Kaoru Inoue, a DJ and music producer who has long been active in Tokyo's club scene. His new album, “A Missing Myth,” his first in two years, will be released on the 17th of this month. It’s a work that maintains a cohesive album totality, while featuring a diverse range of sounds, from tracks heavily influenced by world music from Asia to Africa, seen in his early work under the alias Chari Chari, to the danceable tunes that symbolize him today. At the beginning of the program, we introduced “Malam,” from this album, which blends Indonesian gamelan with tribal percussion.

Mala “Mala In Cuba”

Novalima “Karimba”
Next, two tracks from South America. From the album “Mala In Cuba,” a project by British DJ Giles Peterson, Jamaican DJ/producer Mala, who visited Cuba as part of Havana Cultura, successfully blended his own bass music with local Latin musicians to create new sounds. We played “Como Como,” featuring a dreamy dub treatment. Then, we presented a new work from Novalima, a four-piece modern Latin group from Peru.
The program also featured other unique works, including beat-oriented artist Gaslamp Killer, who features the string instrument tambur, and Homeboy Sandman and Jesse Boykins III, who effectively use children's laughter as samples in their new releases.
Finally, we closed the program with a sexy instrumental track by Grooveman Spot, an artist from Sendai whose skill in creating beat-driven spaces has grown with each release.

Enjoy Your Holiday Afternoon with Music at the End of Summer
Gilles Peterson's BBC Radio show "WORLDWIDE" is fascinating right now. In April of this year, after more than a decade on BBC Radio One, it moved to BBC Radio 6, expanding its reach and time slot to a three-hour program starting Saturday afternoons. Alongside its signature edgy tracks, the show is structured into several segments: "The Do Over," which plays past classics and contemporary covers or remixes; "Bloodlines," introducing works by related artists; and "Backroom Babylon," a collection of what he finds fresh across eras and genres. It introduces the current music scene while also serving as a "music lesson" for the next generation.
Its selections, which even those working in music can appreciate with a knowing smile, are compelling precisely because he himself enjoys music the most. The event "HOLIDAY MUSIC SESSION" was conceived from the idea of embodying this enjoyment and sharing it with everyone.
The main floor and bar area will be non-smoking, with the lounge space open as a smoking area, ensuring everyone can enjoy themselves. Ideally, we would also like to offer some tasteful snacks and food. This would allow participation for those under 20, and even those who haven't frequented clubs in a while could attend with their children.
Especially in times like these, we want to enrich our lives with music. This sentiment has driven the planning of this event. Let's enjoy the end of summer together with music on the final day of the holiday.
