iTunes for OPENERS Vol.48 | iTunes | Shuya Okino | selected by SHUYA OKINO
The 48th installment of our cutting-edge compilation series.
From Shuya Okino of KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE, a DJ, the world's only music critic, and a leading figure in sound branding that transforms space value through music.Shuya OkinoThis is the 48th installment of the monthly compilation series. It's our 4th anniversary! Last time, I focused on cool, electric tracks, leaning towards the more "left-field" side of my taste. This time, it's a complete shift. A hot, soulful selection—titled "BODY HEAT." I've curated a collection of my favorite, must-have tracks from funk, soul, disco, and gospel, all available on iTunes.
Much of the 1970s Black music hasn't been digitized yet, making it difficult to introduce all my analog records through streaming. Fortunately, I was able to find many big tunes on iTunes. While encompassing various styles, the overall mood is unified by a funky, danceable boogie sensibility. I paid close attention to the track order, transitioning gradually from female to male vocals, to avoid a relentless string of hits. This isn't just a collection of old tracks; it's a compilation of songs I continue to play as contemporary dance music, resulting in a timeless selection rather than a nostalgic one. Please enjoy with confidence (laughs).
