Diary-T 244 Taiwan Dictionary: A Journey Through Taipei and Kaohsiung, Part Two-Two
Words and Artwork by Shigekazu Kuwabara
The man who made me laugh was...
Secretary-General of the International Art Charity Association,
Mr. Chou Ming-chih.
It seems that charity through art is quite popular in Taiwan,
as he mentioned handling an incredible number of events, or so I gathered.
Perhaps they are adept at leveraging art?
Or perhaps...
How should I interpret art that shifts its expression so fluidly depending on the region and the people involved?

Children's drawings are so honest.
I also visited a museum scheduled to host a T-shirt exhibition in September, and it was bustling, as it was apparently the opening day of an event.
I felt overwhelmed by the candid gazes of the Taiwanese people, almost as if I were trying to catch eels. This, coupled with the fact that I hadn't used English in a while, meant that no matter how I tried to explain, we were speaking what felt like a comedy routine, with neither of us fluent in English, on my first day in Taipei...

It felt like stepping back in time.
Like old Japan? A landscape I felt I had seen somewhere before,
though it might just be my imagination.

I'm looking forward to the exhibition in September.
To be continued.
