Maverick Angelica Liddell, who has taken Europe by storm with her radical and beautiful expressions, makes her first visit to Japan

"Festival/Tokyo," where one can encounter a variety of arts including theater, dance, art, and music, celebrates its eighth edition. This year again, acclaimed companies and artists from Japan and abroad have been invited, with a diverse program prepared under the theme of "Melting Boundaries," including 12 main productions.

The opening event for the main program, "Festival FUKUSHIMA! @ Ikebukuro West Entrance Park," will be held on Saturday, October 31st, and Sunday, November 1st. Colorful large cloths, sewn from fabrics gathered from across the country, will be spread out, and various artists will perform energetic live shows. The "Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Ondo" will invite passersby to join the dance, creating an event that fosters a sense of connection with the local community.

From overseas, the first-ever performance in Japan by Spanish maverick Angelica Liddell, "The Great Sky Above the Earth (Wendy Syndrome)," will be held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre from Saturday, November 21st to Monday, November 23rd (public holiday). Furthermore, the prestigious Théâtre de la Ville, a leader in European performing arts, will present "The Rhinoceros" for its Japan premiere at the Saitama Arts Theater from Saturday, November 21st to Monday, November 23rd (public holiday).



In the second installment of "Asia Series," which features one country from the Asian region, three artists from Myanmar, a country undergoing rapid social change, will visit Japan.

The power of art, which grants us the ability to re-examine society with fresh eyes, as if dissolving the "boundaries" that surround us, whether they be subtle differences in values or variations in experience. Through the ambitious programs at "Festival/Tokyo 15," including domestic and international stage works, we hope to discover what lies beyond these "boundaries."
