White Wine "Koshu 2010" Takes Flight in JAL's First Class!
The signature wine from Chateau Jun, a winery operated by apparel maker Jun, "Koshu 2010," has been selected as the in-flight wine for JAL's international first class, with service commencing January 2012.

Since its establishment in Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, in 1979, Chateau Jun has consistently produced high-quality wines through meticulous craftsmanship and state-of-the-art brewing facilities, hallmarks of a boutique winery. Its wines have won 16 awards over eight consecutive years at the Japan Wine Competition. The winery can be considered a leader in the recent surge in quality for Japanese wines. As a winery specializing in whites, its offerings include Chardonnay, the Koshu featured here, and a dry Semillon made from 100% Semillon grapes from Hakushu, all of which are listed at renowned Japanese and international restaurants.
"Koshu 2010," selected for JAL's first-class cabins, is made from 100% Koshu grapes grown in Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, sourced from three contracted farmers. The grapes, high in sugar content, are fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. It is characterized by citrus and fruity aromas of pear and quince, with a well-balanced interplay of acidity and sweetness, accented by the unique astringency of the Koshu grape. It is recommended to pair with Japanese cuisine that highlights natural flavors, such as spring vegetable tempura, sashimi, or cod hot pot. While currently sold out due to the JAL order, "Koshu 2011" is scheduled for sequential release starting around February.
Additionally, new uniforms for the winery staff have been designed. Under the name "VETEMENTS DE TRAVAIL Chateau Jun," they will be available for purchase at the Yamanashi Winery and select Adam et Rope stores starting next spring.
