They lack passion.

Or perhaps, you could call it 'insane'—madness.

They seem to view Mr. Horie merely as someone good at making money.

But his true essence lies in that very insanity.

Let's create a university that completely disregards the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Mr. Horie!

Kenichiro Mogi

Takafumi Horie

Exactly. Like a private academy where we can completely ignore the Ministry's intentions.

We could conduct diverse research across genres,

and aggressively monetize anything that can be monetized.

We'd also raise substantial funds from the public and establish a foundation.

How about a private academy that pursues interesting research with a budget in the tens of billions of yen?

We're long past the era of mandatory learning and teaching at universities.

A place where highly skilled and motivated individuals gather to research something,

I believe such private academies are what we need going forward. This movement will only accelerate,

and private academies will likely become branded entities.

Instead of saying 'I got into Todai,' people will say,

'Wow, you're an incredible elite!' That era is coming, I think.

We want to create a space dedicated to research and development,

driven by the conviction that technology will change the world.

We want to build something that rivals Google's campus.

Kenichiro Mogi

For Japan to have someone like Mr. Horie spend over two years in prison while being misunderstood,

is an immense loss.

Takafumi Horie

I have strong convictions that I will maintain, and I'll do various things upon my return.

In particular, I definitely want to establish a new kind of research institution.

The "Style of the Hated" by Takafumi Horie and Kenichiro Mogi, published by Shogakukan.

This book, based on a three-part conversation held at the Dictionary Club,

was created with my deeply respected Kenichiro Mogi as the principal

of the ARTSCHOOL "Dictionary Club."

It is a book form of that spirit (though I may be presumptuous).

As the next role for the Dictionary Club, which was born

following the 23-year existence of the free paper "dictionary,"

I believe it is proof of its undeniable existence.

The powerful messages I received from both of them

I wish to express in other forms, but for now,

the fact that we have successfully published this wonderful book

is entirely due to the strong will of Hisanori Hirata, the editor in charge.

Although there were various misalignments in the production policy,

the clear message that Japanese people must seriously consider and act upon

is abundantly packed into this masterpiece of a book.

In the face of its birth, any negative elements vanished in an instant.

Is this not precisely a victory of will? Isn't it?

The free paper "Dictionary," a lexicon of wisdom that brightly illuminates the future,

and the Dictionary Club,

to convey the proposals and hopes for the future

that the two of them are sending out into the world through this book, it has been my utmost joy to be involved.

And again, what must not be forgotten is,

Kenichiro Mogi's serialization in "Dictionary"

was always handled by the superb editor and solitary writer, Eiichi Yoshimura.

Without his skilled editorial techniques, this would not have been possible.

As if firing celebratory shots for the victory of will,

it is necessary to clearly convey this. Yes, it is.

Well then, let's put aside these formal greetings for now.

We will now move on to the toast.

I believe Kenichiro Mogi once introduced it somewhere~

Taro Okamoto's famous line, "Art explodes!" which he uttered at a certain toast,

that famous line,

I would like to propose a toast together with everyone gathered here.

Alright everyone, are you ready? Here we go,

"Drink this sake as if your life depended on it. Cheers!"

Together, together! Yes, everyone, together now. One, two, three, four,

Ha, ha, ha, ha.

"Drink this sake as if your life depended on it. Cheers!"

Louder! Where has the insanity gone?

Come on, take a deep breath, here we go~

"Drink this sake as if your life depended on it. Radiation~"

Thank you for listening.
