Dustproof, Waterproof Digital Cameras and 300 Million Yen
Ricoh is offering 1,000 of its digital cameras free of charge to areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. The cameras provided are primarily the compact digital models "G700" and "G700SE," both of which are designed for professional use and feature dustproof, waterproof, and shock-resistant capabilities. Each set will include a memory card and a fully charged battery, ready for immediate use at the site. A total of 1,000 units are planned for distribution. For the G700SE, a dedicated GPS unit that records location data of the shooting spot will also be included.
The cameras will be sent to Miyagi, Fukushima, Iwate, and Ibaraki prefectures, which suffered severe damage, through Ricoh's retail stores operating in those regions. They are being sequentially shipped to public institutions such as prefectural governments, police departments, and city halls, as well as private companies involved in disaster relief efforts.
Furthermore, the Ricoh Group has announced a donation of 300 million yen to aid in the relief and recovery efforts for the victims.
