Mark Cross was founded in Boston in 1845 as a manufacturer of horse carriages and harnesses. Later, Patrick Murphy acquired the brand and opened stores in New York and London. In 1934, Gerald Murphy took over as successor, expanding the business to include bags, luggage, and cigarette cases. After a temporary closure in the 1990s, the brand was revived in 2011. Production has since resumed at a historic Italian factory, with collections drawing inspiration from the brand's archives.
