Jun Ashida's Journey and Future: A Glimpse into the Essence of Fashion

Jun Ashida, who debuted as a designer in 1953, was an early proponent of ready-to-wear in Japan, bringing dreams and hope to women of the era through fashion. The 50th-anniversary exhibition 'The Immutable Theory of Elegance' traces the journey of Jun Ashida.

This exhibition introduces the world of Mr. Ashida's creations, who continues to be actively engaged in creative work over half a century later, alongside the historical context of Japan and the evolution of high fashion. It will also feature an exhibition of archival collections, characterized by their structured and sculptural forms created using haute couture techniques, as well as 50 recreated pieces.

Furthermore, original items such as the groundbreaking 'Compass®' that pioneered a new era, collaborations with designer Christian Lacroix and principal dancer TAKAHIRO, will be showcased alongside pieces from the latest Spring/Summer 2015 collection. The space offers an opportunity to experience a new worldview of fashion and art.
