Tracing the Brand's Success Through Fashion Photography

The photobook "Dior: The Legendary Images" is composed of archival photographs captured by masters of the craft.

It revisits how great photographers contributed to Dior's global success, featuring the first show photographs by American photographer Pat English, who is credited with spreading the New Look worldwide and solidifying the Maison's success; an evening gown worn by Dovima posing between two elephants, captured by Richard Avedon; an elegant bar suit in the streets of Paris by Willy Maywald; and Patrick Demarchelier's work depicting artisans at the 2008 couture atelier.

Additionally, the book includes previously unpublished photographs, such as Christian Dior at home, taken by Cecil Beaton. It is a volume that allows one to fully appreciate the Dior esprit.

The ongoing exhibition "Dior: The Legendary Images" explores how photography has contributed to Dior's success. With themes focusing on the photographer's perspective, the resulting Dior style, and how Dior's image was created, the exhibition showcases over 200 works, approximately 60 haute couture dresses, and archival documents. More than 80 pieces from the 1950s to the 21st century are displayed, offering a journey through the history of fashion photography.
