Designing a Subtle Balance

Each season, fashion trends emerge from the European collections. While the advent of fast fashion might suggest trends have become mainstream, collection brands continue to stand out with their sophisticated quality that transcends fleeting fads.

Haider Ackermann. Unswayed by trends, he presents collections that elicit sighs of admiration. A single belt cinches the draped bodice, shaping the silhouette of the bottoms. It evokes the artistry of kimono dressing, where the way it's worn defines its form. The garments appear to be couture, underpinned by three-dimensional patterns. For Spring/Summer, he uses ethnic jacquards, revealing the profound luster of chambray. Sharp elegance. The evening wear feels refreshingly modern.

Dries Van Noten achieves a sense of mode even with simple, relaxed clothing. He designs a subtle balance using transfer prints, lace, and gathered peplums. Asymmetrical, high-waisted belts, and sleeves cut with calculated volume for effortless rolling up—the designer's thoughtful touches are evident throughout. It's real and elegant.
