Part 9: An Invitation to Onshitsu's Event, "Moonlit Reading Room"
October 21st is the day after the full moon. As winter approaches, the moon grows ever clearer. Since 2007, I have continued to arrange flowers facing the moon every night for fifteen days, from the new moon to the full moon in November. I also held a private gathering for readings and improvisational dance on the night of the full moon.

This year, we will hold the "Moonlit Reading Room" on Saturday, October 23rd and Sunday, October 24th. The "Greenhouse" on the rooftop of the building is surrounded by zelkova and Japanese ash trees, which will soon begin to turn color this season. As it is a transparent glass box, you can see the night sky and the moon. On a full moon night, the moonlight is dazzling, even in the heart of the city. We want to create a space at the rooftop greenhouse, close to the sky, where we can select books to match the season and combine "reading" with "seasonality."
Staff and friends from Onshitsu will select dozens of books that one might want to read on a moonlit night, or books related to the moon, and arrange them. Plants that are friends with the moon will also be placed, creating a garden-like atmosphere. Please pick up a book that appeals to you from among them.
