With a Twist: Raf's Signature Slowly Emerges
Raf Simons, in his third season as Dior's Creative Director, presented his ready-to-wear collection. While drawing from Monsieur Dior's legacy of the Bar jacket and the A-line silhouette, he appears to be gradually infusing his own distinct style. The Bar jacket contours the body, its fabric draped as if crossing over itself. Beneath it, floral print culottes sway in the breeze.
Pleats, randomly folded and flowing on the bias, came in sixteen variations, each concealing the artistry of couture. This season, Raf envisioned a mysterious woman journeying into the future.
Adorned with stickers typically found on luggage at airports, and with message ribbons wrapped around dresses bearing names of future colors, the collection evoked a sense of temporal travel. The greenhouse within the Rodin Museum was enveloped by climbing flowers, a blend of the real and the artificial, perhaps symbolizing the mysterious woman who embodies both the counterfeit and the genuine, the false and the true. Swarovski necklaces, resembling climbing flowers, were worn asymmetrically, complemented by large, exotic leather bags carried with effortless grace.
The finale showcased new iconic styles, including the Bar jacket, cigarette pants, and peplum dresses.
