What Style Does Burberry Prorsum Propose This Autumn?

Following Omotesando, Ginza, and Kobe, the fourth standalone import Burberry store, "Burberry Roppongi," has opened on Keyakizaka-dori in Roppongi. This new flagship store, designed as the largest collection hub for imported goods in Japan, finds its greatest appeal in the extensive lineup of the "Burberry Prorsum" collection.

Christopher Bailey, who designs the collection, is considered one of the most influential designers in the fashion scene today. He began his career in 1994 at the Dana Buchman atelier in New York, and in 1996, he worked as a senior designer in the women's division at Gucci, then led by Tom Ford. In 2001, he was appointed Creative Director for both men's and women's lines at "Burberry Prorsum," and he now oversees all creative activities for Burberry as Chief Creative Officer.

His achievements are marked by a glittering list of accolades, including the British Fashion Designer of the Year award in 2005 and an appointment as a Member of the Order of the British Empire by Buckingham Palace in 2009.

Furthermore, his interactive promotional activities, such as conveying the brand's worldview to a wide audience through music and digital communication, have garnered significant attention. While respecting the heritage of the brand, founded in 1856, and its status as a luxury house, his innovative style, which freely incorporates contemporary culture, is clearly reflected in the collections.

Ahead of other stores, "Burberry Roppongi" features an extensive selection of the "Burberry Prorsum" 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection. The men's collection, themed "I ♡ CLASSICS," expresses the wardrobe of the British gentleman using the color palette of Burberry check: beige, red, camel, and black. The looks, composed of authentic items, are all finished with Prorsum's signature slim silhouette for a modern feel. Playful patterns like animal and heart motifs add a touch of whimsy.

Accessories are also abundant, including the Burberry check Boston bag, which appears as a key item. The simple brown leather shoulder bag features a front pocket sized for an iPad, allowing for personalized styling by showing off your favorite iPad case. How about pairing it with a new animal-motif iPad case?

Meanwhile, the women's collection, themed "TRENCH KISSES," proposes a feminine and sexy female image, centered on Burberry's classic items. It features tight pencil skirts, cinched waists, and sensual sheer rubber skirts and trench coats that reveal the skin. The muse for this collection is the real-life British showgirl, Christine Keeler.

In the 1960s, Keeler was at the center of a major scandal that shook the nation, having affairs with both the British Secretary of State for War and a high-ranking Soviet naval officer. She remains a figure of the "Profumo affair," still spoken of as the "greatest scandal of the 20th century," and which has also been made into a film. This collection captures the allure of this femme fatale, who possessed the beauty, intelligence, and cunning to captivate two military men, through 60s-style boxy silhouettes and the beige, red, and white color palette of Burberry check. Like the men's collection, playful heart and animal motifs are used as accents.

The heart motif, common to both collections, is said to represent the feeling of being in love. It evokes the romance between an officer in traditional British gentleman's attire and the captivating Keeler. This season's symbolic heart motif also appears on accessories like iPhone cases. Additionally,Orchard icon bagnew models have been unveiled. Edgy items with a sharp touch, such as a striking clutch with full metal eyelets and cool animal-pattern handbags, are not to be missed.

Among the four flagship stores in Japan, the Roppongi store offers the most extensive selection of the "Burberry Prorsum" collection. This autumn, a supremely fashionable Burberry awaits you.
