The Third Year of Charity Aiming to Expand Support Activities
Gucci, which has been globally involved in children's education support activities since 2005, has been providing support since immediately after the earthquake, including selling charity items and donating the entire proceeds to the Japanese Red Cross Society following the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011. The following year, 2012, in addition to selling charity items, Gucci held "A Night to Support Children in Tohoku" in Tokyo with Kabuki actor Nakamura Kichiemon, a Living National Treasure. The event raised approximately 40 million yen in donations, all of which were contributed to the UNESCO Association's scholarship program for school enrollment.
The "UNESCO Association Scholarship Program for School Enrollment" is a system that provides non-repayable scholarships to elementary and junior high school students from families in municipalities severely affected by the earthquake in Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima prefectures, where economic conditions have significantly worsened due to the impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake. To date, scholarships have been provided to 1,847 children.

This year, a Japan-exclusive bracelet will be released as the third charity item. The woven leather bracelet, in mystic white and red to evoke Japan, is accented with a silver charm combining Gucci's iconic Interlocking G with the word "JAPAN." The simple design, perfect for a subtle accent to any outfit, is available in two sizes, 17 cm and 18 cm, and is suitable for unisex wear.
The entirety of the proceeds from this charity bracelet will be donated to the Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Japan National Federation of UNESCO Associations' "UNESCO Association Scholarship Program - GUCCI Scholars." Gucci is currently providing three years of scholarship support to 57 third-year junior high school students living in Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture, and aims to expand this support through the sale of this charity bracelet. This bracelet connects the wearer's heartfelt wishes to the children's future. Let's support the irreplaceable smiles of children.
