Exclusive Shows in Intimate Settings
Haute Couture collections are not just about the clothes, but also how they are presented. Designers choose smaller venues and scales to allow for close-up viewing of their handiwork and cutting techniques.
Maison Martin Margiela's Artisanal line also presented an exclusive show in a small venue, a departure from its usual presentations. We have often been amazed by the quantity and time invested in connecting vintage items and parts. This season opened with tailored suits that sculpted the form. Lace and Swarovski crystals were also beautifully re-coutured into Margiela dresses.
Chanel's theme was "Vintage for today." As a venerable maison, they have rendered 1950s couture with a light, pop sensibility. Block-check suits and coat ensembles were paired with mesh knit caps and silver tights, creating looks that broke free from constraint.
Gaultier Paris presented variations on the tuxedo suit, inspired by 1920s cinema. Their signature corsetry and lace added a touch of glamour.
