After a decade of development, NARS debuts three items (sets) this holiday season, including the "Artistic Makeup Box," known as a "BENTO BOX" in the U.S., and "HOLIDAY 2010 GIFTING." They will be released in limited quantities on Tuesday, November 22nd, and Friday, November 26th.

What François Nars Discovered in Japan During His Travels

François Nars, founder and creative director of NARS, finds Japanese culture to be a superb source of inspiration, with a particular reverence for Kabuki makeup. During a visit to Japan several years ago, he brought back a small ceramic pot with a thin red film to New York. It turned out to be a Kabuki lip product.

The "Artistic Makeup Box" for this holiday season features two cups, each filled by hand with two vibrant, exclusive lip colors. The handmade "BENTO BOX" includes these two lip colors and a Kabuki-inspired lip brush. It's designed for precise application, allowing users to take lip color directly from the cup with the brush and layer it to achieve the desired intensity.

Red signifies passion and power, while pink represents cheerfulness and youth. "Maiko" (apprentice geisha) is a vivid red, and "Sakura" (cherry blossom), an icon of Japanese culture, is a hot pink. François discovered the profound allure of Kabuki lips and developed these two shades for elegant, modern women.

Each cup is handmade and contains the same amount of product as a regular lipstick, offering approximately 150 applications. The special lip brush is also handmade, with a handle adorned with wisteria, found in China, Korea, and Japan. It will be sold in a limited quantity of just over 1,000 units in the U.S. and slightly more than 2,000 worldwide.
