Sanyō Yamachō, a men's shoe brand developed by Sanyo Shokai, has released the "Waterproof Seijuro," an updated version of its popular side-gore boots "Seijuro" for rainy weather, as its second line of rain shoes. While retaining the design of formal men's shoes, these boots are developed with PVC (polyvinyl chloride) material and designed to reduce the characteristic "stuffiness" and "walking fatigue" of rain shoes, while preventing rainwater from seeping in from the sole.

This year's rainy season arrived with record speed. With the recent increase in localized heavy rainfall, rain shoes are becoming essential for both business and casual wear.

Amidst this trend, the men's shoe brand Sanyō Yamachō launched its first rain shoe in 2019, the "Waterproof Tomojiro," a lace-up, straight-tip design. Now, as its second offering, the "Waterproof Seijuro," a versatile side-gore boot for both on and off-duty wear, has been born.

The base model is the classic and quintessential "Seijuro," whose appeal lies in its simplicity. The elasticated side gore, which widens towards the opening, makes them easy to put on and take off, while providing a comfortable, secure fit, making them a practical choice.

Inheriting its identity, the "Waterproof Seijuro" also expresses the beauty of dress shoes with its sharp and stylish form. The design is suitable not only for rainy days but also for sunny weather.

The PVC material used for the upper is waterproof and features a texture akin to high-quality imported leather. The insole uses a breathable and moisture-permeable polyurethane material called "Solta," with a design beneath the insole that allows moisture to escape, minimizing stuffiness. Furthermore, the cup shape that firmly holds the heel to the arch contributes to stability and a snug fit.

In addition, the heel lift incorporates solid rubber with excellent abrasion resistance, and the outsole is formed with microcellular rubber to enhance flexibility during walking, achieving a quality comparable to leather shoes.
