Bag brand PORTER and social design studio THE INOUE BROTHERS have joined forces for a unique collaboration: the "EL ALTO COLLECTION." These items are a masterful fusion of Bolivia's traditional hand-weaving techniques and PORTER's exceptional craftsmanship.

THE INOUE BROTHERS is a social design studio founded in 2004 by Japanese-Danish brothers Satoshi and Kiyoshi Inoue. They propose "Scandinasian Design," which combines the sensibility of Japanese culture with Scandinavian simplicity, focusing particularly on environmental and social responsibility in their high-quality creations.

The "EL ALTO COLLECTION" was born as part of THE INOUE BROTHERS' ongoing social design projects. El Alto, located near Bolivia's capital, La Paz, is a town formed by migrants from the high Andes. This collection is the result of collaboration and partnership with the local community.

The "Aguayo" fabric used in the collection represents Bolivia's traditional weaving heritage and is hand-woven in workshops in El Alto. Characterized by its vibrant colors, it is an essential item in daily life, cherished by the local people. This collection incorporates original Aguayo patterns into PORTER bags, creating a superb combination with PORTER's technical expertise.

The lineup includes three types of items: a backpack, a waist bag, and a balloon sack.

The design skillfully incorporates the vibrant colors of the Aguayo, with striking greens and purples used for the interior lining. This color palette reflects the context of Bolivia's harsh highland environment, where bright hues play a crucial role in fostering positive emotions.

Additionally, the collection includes hand-knitted finger puppets and market bags, inspired by PORTER. Each finger puppet is a lovingly crafted piece. In Bolivia, finger puppets, traditionally knitted by women for their children and grandchildren, have been cherished for generations, and this cultural element breathes life into the collection.

The market bags are lightweight yet durable, based on items commonly used in South American markets. Designed for everyday use as well as a bag, they strike a perfect balance of practicality and aesthetic appeal.
