Cristóbal Balenciaga, who founded the Balenciaga Maison in Spain in 1917, was considered a master of haute couture from 1937 onwards, after moving to 10 Avenue George V in Paris. Fifty-two years after the founder closed the Maison in 1968, the haute couture collection will be revived under the direction of Artistic Director Demna Gvasalia.

Cédric Charbit, President and CEO of Balenciaga, commented, "We are delighted to highlight Cristóbal Balenciaga's legacy and revive haute couture for this Maison. This project has been made possible by the success of Demna Gvasalia's creative vision and the exceptional achievements of Balenciaga over the past few years.
By reviving the haute couture that Cristóbal Balenciaga closed in 1968, we are connecting the Maison's past, present, and future."

"Haute Couture is the very foundation of this Maison," says Demna Gvasalia. "Reviving couture at Balenciaga is a creative and dreamlike mission. For me, couture is an unexplored territory of creative freedom, a platform for innovation.
It not only presents new possibilities in dressmaking but also returns Balenciaga's modern vision to its origins. Couture transcends trends. It is an expression of beauty at the highest level of aesthetics and quality."
