Introducing "Scritto Arabesque," a New Material Combining Lightness and Durability
The bootmaker Berluti has unveiled a new collection of bags crafted from a material that reinterprets the maison's iconic Scritto calligraphy. The collection is now available at Berluti's directly operated stores and its online shop.
Reinterpreting the Scritto Calligraphy
Founded in Paris in 1895, Berluti is a bootmaker with a four-generation heritage. In 2005, it launched a line of fine leather goods, followed by a ready-to-wear collection in 2011, becoming the world's only maison offering fully bespoke creations at its ateliers on Rue Marbeuf and Rue de Sèvres in Paris.
The new "Scritto Arabesque" material features three shades of deep navy blue and beige threads woven in jacquard, with a surface coating that ensures both lightness and durability.
Rendered on canvas, the Scritto creates fluid, dance-like lines, echoing the "Arabesque" motif and lending a distinctive character to the bag lineup.
In line with the Scritto, the finishing of the bags embodies Berluti's heritage, with smooth leather details harmonizing with the canvas and featuring triangular folding details inspired by origami.
Additionally, studs used on the maison's boots adorn the area around the logo, serving as a striking detail that evokes the brand's craftsmanship.
The collection includes four signature bag styles: the Miles messenger bag, the Toujours tote bag, the Un Jour Gulliver crossbody bag, and the Nino clutch, alongside the Nomad backpack, a spacious and practical design featuring a leather flap, leather drawstring, and side zip closure.
