A Supermodel Who Became "Lifestyle" Itself
The fashion and advertising industries underwent a major turning point in the 1990s. While the 80s were characterized by "luxury" and "health," the 90s embraced minimalism, street style, and ennui.
Among the models who symbolized that era, Kate Moss undoubtedly garnered significant attention. Through collaborations with leading fashion photographers, she established a style known as "heroin chic."
Simultaneously, the 90s saw the diversification of media and an increase in paparazzi. Attention focused not only on Moss's fashion but also on her social life, making her an icon of celebrity culture. It was an era where models were not just runway figures but individuals with distinct personalities.
The print features a black-and-white work shot by Demarchelier of Kate Moss in the early 1990s for a campaign. It's an image that encapsulates her ephemeral charm, its brilliance undimmed even today.
Available in white and black, the T-shirts are printed with the names "Kate Moss" and "Patrick Demarchelier" on the back, complementing the front photograph with an elegant finish.
Ahead of the release, pre-orders began on February 27 (Friday) via BIOTOP ONLINE. The T-shirts will be available at all four BIOTOP stores, BIOTOP ONLINE, and bonjour records DAIKANYAMA.
The monochrome print, framed by negative space, possesses a quiet strength that needs no words. The T-shirt embodies Kate Moss herself, an entity whose mere presence resonates deeply. In an era of chaos, perhaps the subtle certainty of a minimalist piece like this stands out anew.

Q. Who is Kate Moss?
A.A British supermodel born in 1974. Scouted at age 14, she gained global fame through Calvin Klein campaigns in the 1990s. She has remained at the forefront of the fashion industry for over 30 years. She embodied a slender, mysterious style, the antithesis of the healthy, glamorous model image prevalent at the time. This sparked the "heroin chic" movement, redefining the aesthetic sensibilities of 1990s fashion.
Q. Who is Patrick Demarchelier?
A.A fashion photographer born in Le Havre, France, in 1943. He moved to New York in 1975 and studied under Henri Cartier-Bresson, among others. He subsequently handled advertising campaigns for global brands such as Dior, CHANEL, and Louis Vuitton, dominating the fashion photography scene in the 1990s. He served as the personal photographer to the late Princess Diana, leaving behind numerous timeless and classic portraits. This cemented his reputation as a photographer beyond the fashion world.
Q. What is "heroin chic"?
A.A fashion and beauty trend popular in the mid-1990s. It adopted a decadent aesthetic, characterized by pale skin, sunken eyes, and an extremely slender physique, reminiscent of drug addicts. It was critically named because the thin style embodied by models like Kate Moss evoked associations with heroin users. The trend spread widely through fashion magazines and campaign visuals.
