A New Interpretation of the Yves Saint Laurent Monogram Design
The newly announced "MONOGRAM" line is based on the monogram design that Yves Saint Laurent released in the 1970s. The signature pattern is an interweaving of the YSL logo, designed by artist Cassandre in 1961. The monogram print, characterized by the repetition of the Cassandre logo drawn with lines and dots, comes in three colorways—black, dark brown, and light brown—where relief and shading emphasize a unique balance.
The canvas base, made from natural cotton, is finished with a coating that provides luster and strength, while the lining uses a shiny fabric called Saint Laurent Groograin. A distinctive feature is the gold embossed brand signature on all items.
This "MONOGRAM" travel goods line is available for both men and women, featuring approximately 30 items ranging from traditional bags to travel essentials and small leather goods. It also includes classic core items for men, such as briefcases, totes, cases, and bags in various sizes. The line will have a先行ローンチ (advance launch) on April 15th (Tuesday) at Isetan Men's 3F SAINT LAURENT, followed by its release on April 19th (Saturday) at Omotesando, Isetan Men's Building 3F, Hankyu Men's Tokyo, Hankyu Men's Osaka, and Kobe Daimaru.
