SELECTED ITEMS AUTUMN WINTER 2015 | MARGARET HOWELL
MARGARET HOWELL
Timeless designs form the foundation for simple, sophisticated pieces.
MARGARET HOWELL for the Autumn/Winter 2015-16 season builds on timeless designs using voluminous, quintessentially British tailored fabrics, creating a sophisticated, modern atmosphere through styling. What elevates the styling is the expression around the neckline. By layering turtleneck knits or adding accent-coloured scarves, a playful touch is introduced within the substantial looks.

Signature Styles for Autumn/Winter 2015-16
We've selected four representative looks from this collection. Check out the items you'll want to wear now and those you'll want to incorporate into your future outfits, and get a first taste of autumn.
The collection opens with a morning stripe setup. The jacket features a pocketless design, and the no-pleat trousers have a gentle taper. While appearing formal at first glance, the choice of innerwear allows for a wide range of styling, from dressy to casual. The new shirt is based on a classic dress shirt. Made from heavy twill fabric, it can also be worn in casual outfits. As seen in the lookbook, pairing it with a turtleneck knit underneath is also recommended.
The standard shirt now comes in the season's signature mustard and blue. Pair them with jackets or coats to create a striking V-zone. For footwear, we recommend a style that deliberately shows off your socks by wearing the trousers slightly shorter, as seen in the lookbook. The dress shoes worn by the model are a special order from Tricker's, a long-established British shoemaker. This season, they've introduced dark brown dress shoes that pair well with suits and coats. They can be styled in various ways depending on the socks you choose.
Several looks in the collection featured knitted scarves. As one of this season's key items, it's perfect for adding an accent to your styling when worn loosely. The trench coat, made from functional Ventile fabric, is another signature item this season. As shown in the model's styling, it can be worn open for a casual look, or belted at the waist for a more classic approach. Enjoy styling it to suit any occasion.
This season is characterized by layered knitwear, as seen in the lookbook. The high-gauge turtleneck worn underneath is a versatile piece, perfect worn directly against the skin or layered under a shirt for a modern look. The ribbed knit, which fits the body comfortably, is a special order from John Smedley, a British knitwear manufacturer with over 200 years of tradition. The button on the left shoulder adds a touch of accent, giving it a casual feel. Try tucking it into your trousers for a fresh take on styling.
