Let's Fall in Love! The Playful "♡" Motif and Its Message
The theme for Burberry Prorsum's Autumn/Winter collection is "TRENCH KISSES," embodying femininity through conscious silhouettes, the refined elegance of tough outerwear, and a final touch of romanticism. For this collection, designer Christopher Bailey draws inspiration from Christine Keeler, a real-life British call girl who became the center of a political scandal in the 1960s involving her affair with John Profumo, a British Secretary of State.—She was the heroine of the "Profumo affair," known as "the greatest British political scandal of the 20th century."
The collection, based on the color palette of black, camel, red, and white that forms the "Burberry check," presents elegant feminine styles playfully updated with animal patterns, heart motifs, and modern translucent rubber materials. Edgy metal accents on the waist and cuffs express the toughness of a woman who is not easily defined.
