A Collection Created with the Players
Held every two years, the Ryder Cup is the world's most prestigious team golf competition, pitting Europe's top professionals against their American counterparts in a home-and-away format. Each team consists of one captain and 12 players, engaging in direct matches over three days. Since its inception in 1927, the tournament has been said to be the third most-watched event globally, following the Olympics and the World Cup.
As an official supplier, Loro Piana has partnered with the European team. For the 2016 and 2018 Ryder Cups, the brand produced the apparel worn by the European team players during public occasions such as travel, practice, matches, ceremonies, and celebrations.
For this collection, feedback from European team captain Darren Clarke was incorporated. From the three proposed sportswear lines for practice, revealed in this preview, the "Tuesday Practice" has been announced.
The collection's mock-turtleneck sweaters and vests utilize Loro Piana's lightest and softest cashmere, ensuring warmth and a comfortable feel even on cold days. Additionally, the short-sleeved polo shirts, made from wool piqué with natural thermoregulation and breathability, are designed for active pursuits. Their ergonomic design ensures they do not impede body movement. The trousers are waterproof and suitable for light rain.
Regarding this partnership, Loro Piana Chairman Antoine Arnault stated, "We are extremely proud and honored to collaborate with the European team at the Ryder Cup. We strongly hope that Loro Piana's elegance and quality, along with our extensive experience in transforming the world's finest natural fibers into high-performance products, will bring great victories to the European team. We wish the top athletes the very best at Hazeltine."
The produced apparel is scheduled to be available in a capsule collection at select stores worldwide starting in mid-September, a few days before the matches begin at Hazeltine in Minnesota.
