Haute Couture Designs Created as a Tribute to China Unveiled
Armani entered the Chinese market with the opening of an Armani boutique in Beijing in 1998. Its popularity has grown alongside China's economic development, and the brand now operates a total of 289 stores across 50 cities, includingGiorgio Armaniand Emporio Armani.
For this event commemorating over 10 years in China, Giorgio Armani himself visited Beijing. On May 30th, a meeting was held at the prestigious Tsinghua University, where Armani has supported the "Research Program on Fashion and Textile Design under Globalization" since last year, bringing together Armani and students. Additionally, at a fashion seminar hosted by the editor-in-chief of Vogue China, the winners of an internship contest judged by Armani were announced. The winning students will receive the opportunity for an intensive six-month training program at Armani's headquarters in Milan.
The highlight, "One Night Only in Beijing" on the 31st, took place in "NewTank," an area known for its artistic vibe, characterized by former gas tanks and warehouses, alongside numerous galleries and ateliers. Grand fashion shows featuring the Fall/Winter 2012-2013 menswear and womenswear collections from Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani, as well as the Giorgio Armani Privé Spring/Summer 2012 collection, captivated 1,000 guests. Furthermore, 15 specially created haute couture designs from Giorgio Armani Privé, crafted as a tribute to China, were presented. The event was broadcast worldwide via live streaming.

Armani himself revealed, "I have drawn inspiration from China's rich culture and sophisticated aesthetic sensibility." He added, "Moving forward, through collaborative programs like the one with Tsinghua University and exchanges of culture and expertise, I wish to serve as a new bridge between East and West and support emerging Chinese talent." For China, which continues to transform into an even larger fashion market, Armani's role as a leader in fashion is undoubtedly set to grow.
