Pavarotti's Achievements and Personality Condensed into Design

Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti (1935-2007) captivated people worldwide with the aria "Nessun dorma" from Puccini's opera "Turandot," and it is no exaggeration to say that he broadened the reach of opera itself. The special limited edition Patron Series released by Montblanc expresses his entire life through a writing instrument, drawing from his many legendary performances and unforgettable repertoire, down to his off-stage charm.

The "Luciano Pavarotti 888," released in a worldwide limited edition of 888 pieces, features a dragon design on the cap, with a round-cut red garnet (approx. 0.05 ct) set as its eye, in homage to Pavarotti's signature work.

The ornament on the cap ring and the five rings represent the distinctive five-story structure of the "Luciano Pavarotti Municipal Theatre" in Modena, his birthplace. Furthermore, the five rings symbolize the five operas that elevated Pavarotti's international fame: "Turandot," "La Bohème," "Rigoletto," "Un ballo in maschera," and "L'elisir d'amore."

The clip's shape is inspired by the scarves he often wore around his neck, and the 750 solid gold nib is adorned with a bent nail, which he carried like a talisman when going on stage. The barrel, decorated with an ornament from the opera "Turandot," is set with a garnet (approx. 1.025 ct).

The other Patron Series model, "Luciano Pavarotti 4810," features the same cap ring ornament and five rings as the "Luciano Pavarotti 888," along with a barrel designed with a floral pattern in red lacquer, inspired by the Hawaiian shirts Pavarotti favored. The turquoise-colored cabochon set in the barrel represents his colorful off-stage wardrobe.
