"WORK NOT RAIN"What is "Work Not Rain"?

The "WORK NOT RAIN" exhibition, inspired by the rainy season, will feature a pop-up of leading British umbrella brands "LONDON UNDER COVER" and "FOX UMBRELLAS," alongside a curated selection of books related to "rain," such as Gabriel García Márquez's "One Hundred Years of Solitude" and Bruno Munari's "Circus in the Mist," translated by Shuntaro Tanikawa. These items will be displayed and available for purchase.

"London Undercover" was founded in 2008 by designer Jamie Milestone. The brand aims to maximize the appeal of umbrellas, a quintessential British gentleman's accessory, by infusing them with playful designs. It has elevated umbrellas into essential British accessories for daily life, while also incorporating eco-conscious practices and environmentally friendly production methods.

"Fox Umbrellas" was established in 1868 by Thomas Fox in the City of London. Since the Victorian era, the company has been crafting high-quality, handmade umbrellas, becoming synonymous with British umbrellas and earning the reputation of being "the world's most famous umbrella." While actively pursuing technological innovation, such as developing the world's first nylon umbrella, all processes—from cutting fabric using traditional wooden patterns and sewing by machine to assembling metal frames and crafting handles from natural materials—are still meticulously carried out by skilled artisans.

The title "WORK NOT RAIN" signifies "creations born from rain," suggesting that rain is not merely precipitation but a phenomenon that gives rise to scenes, stories, and products. The message is to embrace and enjoy these elements during the rainy season. We invite you to experience this "pastime exhibition" that creatively links climate and lifestyle.
