Monchhichi, first released by Sekiguchi Corporation in 1974, is a charming plush toy known for its pacifier-sucking pose and cute freckles. Evolving from the company's popular "Kutakuta Monkey," its pose was inspired by the thumb-sucking gesture of the soft vinyl doll "Mademoiselle Jeje." This innovative design, featuring a soft vinyl head and limbs on a plush body, sparked an explosive craze upon its release. The name "Monchhichi" itself is derived from the French phrase "mon petit chouchou," meaning "my darling."

 

After a temporary hiatus in sales outside of France starting in 1985, Monchhichi returned to the market in 1996 due to fervent fan demand. With a record debut and an animated television series, Monchhichi has continued to be cherished by fans worldwide, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024. Evolving with the times, Monchhichi has sold over 70 million units in more than 30 countries. It is currently experiencing a massive boom in Thailand and has gained attention for being worn by global artists.

 

MEDICOM TOY began its collaboration with Monchhichi 10 years ago, in 2016. Since then, they have produced a number of captivating items, including "BE@RBRICK Monchhichi," "SMAK!" directed by artist Kahori Hinata, and "Monchhichi -HAPPY GIFT BOX-" featured in the VAG series.

 

The latest release, "Monchhichi (BE@RBRICK Costume Ver.)," features Monchhichi cosplaying as a BE@RBRICK.

 

Meanwhile, "BE@RBRICK Monchhichi (Flocked Ver.) 100% & 400%" is a BE@RBRICK treated with a flocked finish, mimicking the soft texture of a plush toy.
