"Two Seconds in Prison" refers to the second album and title track released in October 2024 by "Bugiren," a unit formed by Hiroto Kōmoto and Kantaro Uchida. Though only four characters, it's a magical phrase that sparks the imagination, conjuring thoughts like, "Two seconds in prison? That's so short!" or "What on earth could one do to receive such a sentence?" (If you're curious, we highly recommend getting the album). Deeply impressed by this, MEDICOM TOY presents "MLE Two Seconds in Prison," featuring T-shirts, sacoches, belts, and towels. We spoke with Hiroto Kōmoto, the lyricist of the song and someone who readily agreed to this item collaboration.

—First, how did you come up with the phrase "Two Seconds in Prison," which leaves such a strong impression? Could you share any episodes from when you wrote the lyrics for the song of the same name?

Hiroto KōmotoThe inspiration came from the fun of completely affirming strong desires. It's the image of intensely resisting being regulated by someone for something you love. It's a bluff, like, "Even if I'm suppressed, I'll bounce back in two seconds!" It's fun, like professional wrestling. I also thought it would be fun to apply it to various situations, like thinking, "This will all be over in a flash" when feeling utterly down.

—Inspired by this phrase, MEDICOM TOY, with its earnest request, will now release items based on "Two Seconds in Prison." We'd love to hear your thoughts. Also, you have a deep history with MEDICOM TOY, having collaborated on the realistic figure "Stylish Collection Hiroto Kōmoto" (2000), as a guest artist for BE@RBRICK Series 1 (2001), and the Amplifier "Hiroto Kōmoto" TEE (2017). What are your impressions?

Hiroto KōmotoMEDICOM TOY's actions may seem like a flurry of random hits, but I feel they connect somewhere. I'm curious to see where "Two Seconds in Prison" will land this time. I'd be happy if there were unexpected reactions.

—We believe that this item collaboration will introduce many people to the music of Bugiren and the appeal of the blues. Do you have a message for them?

Hiroto KōmotoThe phrase "Two Seconds in Prison" came to mind while pursuing the blues with the unit Bugiren. It's the complete affirmation of desire. A story connecting blues to rock and roll. It would be exhilarating if it became a buzzword for 2025. I'll leave the rest to you. Thank you!
