From Saturday, December 5, 2020, to Sunday, January 3, 2021, MEDICOM TOY will host its new product exhibition, 'MEDICOM TOY EXHIBITION 2020 IN VIRTUAL,' unveiling numerous items for their world premiere. This major annual event, held every summer since 2003 with progressively larger venues, has been moved online for the first time this year to prioritize the health and safety of attendees amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. We spoke with Tatsuhiko Akashi, President and CEO of MEDICOM TOY, about the circumstances leading to this decision and asked him to explain the commemorative items that will be sold in limited quantities at the virtual venue.

In 2020, due to the impact of COVID-19, we faced significant challenges in planning and developing products, as face-to-face meetings were difficult, and much of the process relied on web conferences and email. However, we were unwilling to compromise on product quality, so we took more time than usual to complete them. This year has drastically changed how we approach and conduct our work.

The MEDICOM TOY EXHIBITION, usually held in the summer, is our annual showcase of new products, and it's an event that customers eagerly anticipate, with growing numbers each year, and our staff put immense effort into its preparation.
We felt it was widely recognized, with many visitors from overseas.

Therefore, we debated internally until the last moment whether it could be held in some form, but considering the safety of our customers and staff, we had no choice but to cancel the in-person event. It was a difficult decision, but picturing the faces of our customers who were looking forward to it, we decided to proceed with a virtual exhibition.

We are proud that our products, born from a unique perspective, have broken existing concepts and created the genre of "MEDICOM TOY." Please enjoy an exhibition filled with the same surprise and excitement as a physical venue, along with unique virtual presentations, at your preferred "place" and "time."

To commemorate the 'MEDICOM TOY EXHIBITION 2020 IN VIRTUAL,' the following items will be sold in limited quantities at the virtual venue.

BE@RBRICK Pikachu Flocked Ver. 1000%
This is the 1000% model from our collaboration line with Pikachu, which has received a great deal of attention. It is one of the highlight products gracing this year's exhibition.

These two products are statue series inspired by Banksy's graffiti. We had originally considered a real-life size (180cm) release, but realized that 900mm would still be substantial, leading to this size. Both the products and their packaging are impressively large.

PROP MORRIS (Blonde)
This is the latest addition to the MORRIS prop line, following the PROP MORRIS (Original) and PROP MORRIS (Blue Eyes). Although the project began with PROP GIZMO as a reference, it has successfully established itself as a unique line, and we are now releasing the third installment at the exhibition. Naturally, Kaori Hinata has provided overall supervision.

A new color of KITTY MORRIS, imagining MORRIS before he grew horns, will be unveiled at the exhibition. Since the project started with VAG, many of you may already own smaller models, so please consider adding this one to your collection.

JEWEL BEAR
JEWEL BEAR is a fully refined model of the "A Bear Cub Ice~" originally developed by MAMES for VAG SERIES 22. It received an overwhelmingly positive response, and now it's released as JEWEL BEAR in an enlarged size. While MAMES has created several custom versions, this is the first official mass-produced release. It's designed to be very cute and posable.

Finally, 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of MEDICOM TOY's founding. Provided circumstances allow, we hope to revive the in-person exhibition next year. We deeply miss seeing our customers' smiles and engaging in conversations with our valued partners.

We have many new projects to share, but please bear with us until we can officially disclose the information. We will continue to strive to be a toy company that "surprises and never disappoints," aiming to be one of a kind in the world.
