Tokyo Station will celebrate its 110th anniversary on December 20, 2024. As a gateway to Japan frequently used for business and travel, it will soon be home to a BE@RBRICK that recreates the illuminated appearance of its Marunouchi Building.

Construction on Tokyo Station began in March 1908 (Meiji 41) and it opened on December 20, 1914 (Taisho 3). Its iconic "Marunouchi Building," designed by Kingo Tatsuno, the father of modern Japanese architecture (1854-1919), is a Renaissance-style steel-framed brick structure built with approximately 8.9 million bricks. As the central station in Tokyo, the capital of a modernizing Japan, it has witnessed countless historical events and developed alongside Japan's leading business district.

In 2003 (Heisei 15), it was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan. In 2012 (Heisei 24), the Marunouchi Building was restored to its original appearance. The building, reminiscent of a museum with its octagonal north and south domes adorned with eight zodiac sculptures and original plaster parts salvaged and reattached to reliefs, becomes even more magical when bathed in orange illumination at night.

The "BE@RBRICK Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building Model Light Up Ver. 100% & 400%" being released this time vividly captures that illuminated scene with a clear body infused with glitter. It allows you to enjoy the sight of the Marunouchi Building, beautifully lit at night, in your own home. This is a set of 100% and 400% sizes, scheduled for limited release in November at the TRAINIART JRE MALL store.

As a commemorative pre-event for Tokyo Station's 110th anniversary on December 20, 2024, the "Ekikon" (Station Concert), formerly held at Tokyo Station, will be revived on December 1st (Fri) and 2nd (Sat). The JR East Tokyo Brass Band will perform railway-themed and Christmas songs (free to attend). Enjoy music to your heart's content alongside the illuminated Marunouchi Building.
