Shinsaibashi PARCO, Reopening After Approximately 9 Years, Connects to Daimaru Shinsaibashi Store

On Friday, November 20, 2020, "Shinsaibashi PARCO" reopened in Shinsaibashi, Osaka, for the first time in approximately nine years. While inheriting the essence of fashion, anime, new dining, and art championed by the revamped "Shibuya PARCO" last November, it adds elements of luxury, high-end dining, and golf & sports. Furthermore, it encompasses large specialty stores like Tokyu Hands and MUJI, a cinema complex, a multipurpose hall, and event spaces.
The concept of the building is "A new commercial complex that transcends the boundaries of fashion buildings and department stores, where "things and experiences," "everyday life and art," and "reality and technology" intersect borderlessly." It is a large-scale commercial facility with 17 floors, including the basement, 14 above ground, and a rooftop floor, and is connected to the main building of Daimaru Shinsaibashi Store via a connecting passage. Due to measures against the novel coronavirus infection, advance reservations are required until Monday, November 23 (holiday) to alleviate congestion within the facility.

"2G OSAKA" Opens on the LUXURY & MODE Floor

"2G OSAKA," the second "2G" store following "2G TOKYO," opened on the 2nd floor of "Shinsaibashi PARCO." Located on the LUXURY & MODE floor, it is conveniently situated to the left just after ascending the escalator, next to Gucci.

The interior design, like "2G TOKYO," was handled by Snarkitecture, based in NY. The cool design, inspired by a bank heist, focuses on the pop-up space of "2G TOKYO." Furthermore, while "2G TOKYO" is long and narrow, "2G OSAKA" has a more square-like space.

First Exhibition at "2G OSAKA": Hajime Sorayama

At the front, Hajime Sorayama's "Sexy Robot_infiniti floating," curated by NANZUKA, is currently displayed. This exhibition is scheduled to run until Sunday, December 20. Additionally, a approximately 7-meter-tall Sexy Robot by Hajime Sorayama is exhibited as public art in the Waterfall Plaza on the 12th floor until mid-January, and Sorayama's works can also be seen in the group exhibition "JP POP UNDERGROUND" held in the event hall on the 14th floor.
