Here, we introduce MEDICOM TOY's new items scheduled for release in May 2024 at its two locations: 2G TOKYO in Shibuya, Tokyo, and 2G OSAKA in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. This month features the "BE@RBRICK FLOR@ SUNFLOWER 400% / 1000%."

"BE@RBRICK FLOR@," created by the artist unit "MAMES" (comprising Kenta Kashiwagi and chami), is a beautiful model featuring artificial flowers encased within a clear body, adorned with MAMES' artwork reflecting the theme. It's a popular series born from "MAME FLORA," MAMES' plant-themed artworks that capture miniature worlds of beauty.

The theme for the new "BE@RBRICK FLOR@ SUNFLOWER 400% / 1000%" is the sunflower, a quintessential summer flower. Since the modern era, sunflowers have frequently appeared as motifs in artworks, with painters such as Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, Gustav Klimt, and Egon Schiele presenting their works. Furthermore, the film "Sunflower" (released in 1970), starring Italian cinema legends Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni, which depicts the love of a man and woman torn apart by war, is cherished worldwide along with Henry Mancini's poignant theme music.

The "BE@RBRICK FLOR@ SUNFLOWER 400% / 1000%" reproduces MAMES' sunflower artwork using water printing. Inside the body, it houses a large sunflower in full bloom as artificial flowers. The flower's language of love includes "longing" and "I only have eyes for you," said to stem from its heliotropism, its tendency to follow the sun's movement. The color yellow, known for its vitamin-like qualities, is sure to bring a positive mood to your mornings.
