The major retrospective "Andy Warhol Kyoto," celebrating the pioneer of pop art, Andy Warhol, will be held from Saturday, September 17, 2022, to Sunday, February 12, 2023, at the Higashiyama Cube, the new building of the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art. To commemorate this, advance tickets with limited-edition BE@RBRICKs will go on sale via e-plus from July 15.

This exhibition comprehensively showcases Warhol's oeuvre, from his early works as a commercial illustrator in the 1950s, to his iconic "Death and Disaster" series depicting accidents and death in the 1960s, his film and television works, commissioned portraits of celebrities, and his later pieces.

Warhol first visited Japan in 1956 during a world tour, and he visited Kyoto. This exhibition focuses on Warhol's connection to Kyoto, displaying precious sketches that attest to their relationship. This is the first exhibition in Japan composed solely of works from the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, USA, with over 100 of the approximately 200 artworks and 15 films being shown in Japan for the first time.

To commemorate the exhibition, a collaboration with MEDICOM TOY, which has released numerous Andy Warhol-related items, will also be featured. Advance tickets with a limited-edition BE@RBRICK 100% & 400% set, inspired by "Cow Wallpaper"—the first in a series of wallpaper designs Warhol created from the 1960s to the 1980s—will be sold in limited quantities.
The "Cow Wallpaper," with its striking combination of yellow and pink cows, surprised people at the time. Befitting a commemorative item, the "Andy Warhol Kyoto" logo and exhibition dates are printed on the back of the BE@RBRICK.
