This YUSUKE HANAI GODZILLA collaboration is part of the "GODZILLA THE ART" project, launched to commemorate Godzilla's 70th anniversary. The initiative invites contemporary artists from Japan and abroad to engage with Godzilla beyond the confines of film, expressing their unique interpretations. HANAI's rendition captures the imposing upper body of Godzilla emerging from the sea with his signature style. The sofubi figure is rich with detail, from its subtly humorous expression and the striking contrast of its realistic dorsal fins to the dynamic depiction of the ocean surface, a nod to HANAI's roots in surf culture.

 

The "Sofubi YUSUKE HANAI GODZILLA" is scheduled for release at MEDICOM TOY NEXT, which opened on the 4th floor of Shibuya PARCO in Tokyo in 2025, and MEDICOM TOY WEST, which opened on the basement 1st floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO in Osaka in April 2026.
